Commitment to Fun

Redwood Coast Petroleum employees continually strive to have a healthy mix of fun and work with their co-workers and their families. To that end follows some of our collaborations:

Annual Company Picnic– This year's picnic will have a Hawaiian theme and will be held at Galvin Community Park in Santa Rosa on Saturday, August 27, 2005 . The event will include a presentation of employee service awards, DJ sounds from Rhythm Masters, catered lunch from Park Avenue Catering Co., Jump House for the kids, relay games, softball, tennis, more… The luau begins at 11:00 am and lunch will be served at 12:00 . Contact Human Resources at (707) 546-0766 x 149 for additional information.

Monte Carlo Night - Employees and adult guests are invited monthly to bowl for cash and prizes at Double Decker Lanes in Rohnert Park.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas - In a turn about of events, the Grinch (controller Scott Kelleher and his staff) stole the Christmas decorations from other departments in the corporate office so that they could compete for the grand prize the very day the departments were to be judged.

When the competition was announced, the finance department said Humbug!, they would not participate. The other departments set to work and over the next couple of weeks turned their offices into Santa's workshops, many creating elaborate themes and displays. The oil department even created a wooden fireplace as part of their display.

When judgment day came, more than one surprise became evident. Upon arriving at the office the morning of the competition, green Grinch prints were found in place of many of the missing Christmas artifacts, eventually leading to the finance department. The customer service and bobtail departments formed an alliance and bobtail manager Randy Parker came dressed in tights and a skirt (ok, he was an elf). Last, Bob Barbieri, with the help of the HR Dept., arranged to have a comedian delight and entertain us while judging the entries. Alas, the nasty Grinch did not win the competition, but in story telling fashion, grew a heart. Not all finance departments are heartless, at least not ours. Who won the competition? The sweet little toy shop in the retail department where everyone donated toys for Toys for Tots, of course.
